What is the Pearl Universal Widget?
It’s a prebuilt UI component delivered via an iframe. It connects directly to Pearl’s backend and gives your customers the ability to ask questions - getting fast, AI-powered answers that are optionally verified by trusted human Experts.
It’s designed for easy evaluation and rapid prototyping. Think of it as a live demo you can host directly on your website or product environment.

Why we built it
We’ve spoken with dozens of product teams trying to bring AI into their customer experiences. One thing we heard again and again:
“We love the idea, but we don’t have time to build a back-end or wire up a sandbox just to evaluate this.”
So, we decided to remove that friction. The widget is secure, configurable, and works out of the box in all major front-end frameworks: React, Angular, Vue, and even plain old HTML + JS. No access key needed to start
One of the best things about the widget? You can start using it without an API key.
By default, the widget runs in AI-only mode, allowing customers to interact directly with Pearl AI and get real-time answers - no signup or token required. Just embed and go.
But if you want to explore richer AI + human interactions, the widget supports four powerful conversation modes, designed for different business needs:
AI-only mode (default, no key needed)
Pearl’s AI answers customer questions immediately. This is the fastest, lowest-lift way to experience AI performance without human involvement. Ideal for non-critical or exploratory use cases.
AI + Expert mode
Pearl AI provides an instant answer, then a live human Expert reviews it in real time. If needed, the Expert can revise or improve the AI’s answer before it’s shown to the customer. Best for high-trust interactions where speed + accuracy matter.
Expert-only mode
The customer’s question goes directly to a human Expert, skipping AI entirely. Choose this when human precision is critical from the start - like in complex legal or health inquiries.
Expert-first with fallback to AI
A human Expert is given the first chance to answer the question. If no Expert is available within a short window, Pearl AI steps in to respond immediately. This mode balances expert judgment with always-on coverage.
To unlock any mode beyond AI-only, you’ll need to pass an API key to the widget.

Match your brand style You can override the widget’s outer styles - such as size, border, or container layout - using standard CSS around the iframe. This makes it easy to blend the experience into your existing site design or app layout. While the iframe content itself is securely sandboxed, you can control how it appears within your environment.
What happens under the hood?
When a customer types a question, Pearl’s AI model generates a response. Behind the scenes, if the answer requires verification, it’s instantly routed to one of our live Experts for review. This happens in real time. The customer gets a fast, accurate response - and your business keeps its reputation for quality intact.
